Care Burden and Transformations in Agency among Family Carers of Ambulatory Children with Complex Medical Care Needs
This presentation reported findings from a questionnaire survey and qualitative interviews with parents of ambulatory children with complex medical care needs. Based on these data, we proposed a conceptual model that captures both the structure of family caregiving burden and the dynamic changes in caregiving relationships as children grow and develop.
The discussion following the presentation provided valuable insights into how caregiving changes throughout children’s developmental stages, as well as how these changes may differ according to the presence and severity of developmental disabilities and the child’s age. These comments will contribute to the further refinement of the conceptual model and deepen our understanding of the structure of family caregiving burden.
